Hi its Raj from India.

I always thought that finding an apartment in Germany is peanuts! So… I wanted to give it a shot and find it myself. I was relocated to Frankfurt for a one year assignment and needed a furnished one bedroom flat. First I started asking my colleagues if they knew someone who would rent to me or I could live with them. All told me no! Ok, then I started looking on the internet, found some nice apartments and wrote an email. Many did not answer, because my email was in English, I know that now 🙂

I was so happy when I got the appointment to see the apartment that I liked. When arriving everything was smooth, until the realtor told me that the rental period was a minimum 2 years. I was shocked! The realtor was very upset with me as well, because this little detail was written in the apartment description, but I did not see it. Soooo, this was a waste of time and very stressful for me and the realtor. 

I still had some hope and found another apartment and even got an appointment. When I came there, the owner gave me a funny look and asked if I liked to cook. Of course I do! Then he asked me what kind of food I like to cook. Guys… this was very strange, I felt like … well!! I said, I like normal human food 😉 He did not get the jouck and asked again. I replied with Indian food. He was like … ummm ok… Then he said that in the house were many families who could be bothered by the strong flavours on Indian food and that I would not be the best candidate for that apartment. I was shocked, angry and insulted!!! What the §%$& !!!

To cut the story short, I found a place… BUT it was much more expensive than my budget and not as nice as I wanted. 

You guys think twice if you really want to do all this hustle yourself and end up with something that you might not like and waste your time and money. Get help, well, at least I will do that next time!
